About

Hello and Welcome!

If you’ve come here you want to know a little bit more about who we are why we do what we do and what we stand for. Hopefully in a variety of ways we can answer those question!

Hi I’m Melissa, a lot of people call me Mel, but I answer to either!  I am an Australian married to an American and a mother of 4 beautiful boys.

I began my doula journey in 2009 and started “New Life Doula Services” offering Doula and placenta encapsulation services in 2014 when I still lived in Australia. In late 2015 our family moved to Wenatchee Washington and I started from scratch. In 2019 I added Massage Therapy to my tool box and opened a massage studio 2020. In 2022 we expanded and added a Massage Therapist and Doulas to the team! And we are still growing.

Our heart is to love and serve the pregnant and postpartum mothers of our community.

We believe that every childbirth is a significant and transformative time in a family’s life.

We believe in the incredible design of birth and women’s bodies.

We believe that families make the best decisions for themselves when encouraged to prepare with education, evidence and trusting their intuition.

We believe in supporting the physiological and instinctual process of pregnancy and birth. We are whole beings made up of muscles, ligaments, bones, hormones, thoughts, feelings, experiences, soul and spirit. Pregnancy and childbirth is not just a physical experience; it’s emotional, thoughtful, spiritual, intimate, powerful and transformational. That includes births in the hospital, out of the hospital and with unexpected challenges along the way.

We believe in continually learning and growing as a team. Our massage therapists all have advanced training in pregnancy and postpartum massage, including cesearean recovery and pregnancy loss. Our doulas utilize various trainings and offerings including, Body Ready Method, Spinning Babies, Evidence Based Birth, Intentional Birth, and other programs, skills and experience based knowledge to provide the very best support possible.

We believe our bodies are intricately and wonderfully made and designed by our loving Creator and that is the foundation to everything we do.

Karryn
Massage Therapist

Hello! My name is Karryn and have been working in the massage industry for over 10 years. I started out at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan and have since managed to travel the globe, on cruise ship, working in a wide variety of spas including at the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek Resort, Colorado and the Post Hotel in Leavenworth and chiropractic offices that helped grow and enhance my skills set.

In 2023 I took the opportunity to begin working at New Life. I attended a specialist Pre and Perinatal Massage class which ignited a passion for postpartum massage and cesarean recovery.

Massage is my passion. It is my heart and soul. I love to integrate different types of therapies together because there is not just a “one size fits all” when it comes to over all health and well-being.
Allison
Massage Therapist, Body Ready Method

Allison grew up in Orondo, WA, and currently lives in Orondo, WA. She graduated from Arbor Institute of Massage in Knoxville TN in 2012 (that’s a long fun story!). She has spent the last decade, practicing massage part time, and keeping up with her continuing education, as well as starting a family, moving several times, and building a home. She also holds several volunteer positions in her community.

After experiencing the difference between an “okay” prenatal massage and an “exceptional” prenatal massage during her first pregnancy (also) in 2012, she set her sights on being able to provide that exceptional kind of structural relief and support for other pregnant people and their partners. In 2016 she attended an intensive prenatal and postpartum massage workshop with Carole Osborne and In 2023 she became certified in the Body Ready Method depending her skills in her journey towards that goal.
Tomi
Doula, Body Ready Method

My name is Tomi Roberts and I love everything about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I received my Doula and Childbirth Educator certifications at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth through Bastyr University. My heart as a doula is to provide resources to pregnant mothers and young families while also providing comfort and guidance throughout Labor. Understanding the importance of prenatal care and choices in birth can make for an empowering birth experience.

I studied the Body Ready Method expanding my skills in being able to support and teach specific tools for pregnancy, birth an postpartum and graduated 2023. I would be honored to walk with you on this journey.

In 2009 I was volunteering with an organization (YWAM) addressing the health needs of the people of Papua New Guinea. I was particularly challenged by the needs of childbearing women in developing nations who don’t get the maternal care they need. Around the same time, a number of my friends were beginning to talk about birth in a whole new way. They were talking about different options, they were talking with passion, confidence, strength and ownership. I wanted what they had! – They had a Doula!

Becoming a Doula was my personal response to mothers everywhere.

I became a Certified Doula with Childbirth International (CD CBI) in 2012. I have supported women in 3 countries – Australia, Tanzania and USA. I continued my passion for supporting pregnancy & birth and became a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2019. In 2022 I became a certified Body Ready Method Professional and trained in specific pre and perinatal massage therapy. I continually seek out education and training on how to best serve families in the Childbearing years. I have volunteered with YWAM, LifeReach International and YWAM Medical Ships. I am a Placenta Encapsulation specialist (APPAC).

I believe in the One who created life and the amazing design of childbirth, it is the foundation to everything I do.

I believe that pregnancy and birth is designed to be life-giving and a unique and significant moment in  life.

In 2012 I had the opportunity to support women in Tanzania, Africa during a practicum for birth workers with LifeReach International.  Working at a busy hospital in the capital city I witnessed the strength of many women in the face of less than ideal circumstances.  This experience solidified for me that Doula’s are needed.   Of course women can, and do, birth everyday without caring or understanding support.   However a doula can and does reduce fear, stress and anxiety for the mother (amongst other things) and that has to be good!

I am certified Labour Doula with Childbirth International (CLD CBI) and I have supported women in Townsville, Australia, in Tanzania, Africa and Wenatchee, USA
